1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in three countries: India, Qatar, and the US! I grew up in India till elementary school, did my middle schooling in Qatar, and moved to the US while attending high school.
2. What high school did you attend?
I went to Clements High School (Sugar Land, TX).
3. What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?
My favorite extracurricular was debate! As someone who was afraid of public speaking, I loved pushing myself outside my comfort zone to improve my speaking skills. I did not achieve much in debate but it definitely made me a much more confident person and improved my critical thinking skills. Also, I became interested in computer science because I wanted to develop software for the debate community :)
4. Why are you majoring in CS?
I find computer science to be an amazing tool for me to develop solutions to tackle societal problems. Due to its endless potential, it gives me the flexibility to go not only into different areas in the software industry but also to become an entrepreneur.
5. Why are you in this class?
One of the first concepts that fascinated me in computer science was OOP. At first, it very complex to me but once I was able to see its simplicity, I was able to see how powerful and efficient it is. I am curious about the advanced concepts in OOP.
6. How much C++ do you already know?
I am not really fluent in the language, but I have written a decent amount of C++ in my robotics FRI class.
7. How did you like the two lectures?
Pretty cool! I like that Professor Downing is very patient while explaining concepts, especially Docker. It’s awesome that he uses Gitlab as a way of sharing notes.
8. How did you feel about the cold calling?
I think it is really good, given that Professor Downing makes a really good effort in making it a friendly environment to interact in.
